Welcome to CGS Middle School

Dear Visitor,

Welcome to the Middle Section of Chittagong Grammar School. This wonderful unit of CGS comprises of Classes 3 to 8. It is situated at Surson Valley of the panoramic Chatteshwari Road. It is here that our students will capture the core of our Cambridge Curriculum and build a strong academic foundation. Middle School currently has more than 650 students and over 150 staff comprising of teachers, administration personal, management and support staff, all of whom are here to support our students to achieve their level best.

The academics of Classes 3 to 7 comprise of Art, Bangla, Creative Writing, English, Geography, Global Perspectives, History, ICT, Islamiat, Literature, Mathematics, Moral Education, Physical Education, Science and Social Studies. ICT exams are facilitated from Class 3 to 7, held and certified under the Cambridge University every year. From Class 3 students start to sit for exams. Professional Career Counselors are brought in from ICS to advice and guide students of Class 7 to make their choices for the selection of O’ Level subjects based on their aptitude and interest.

The academics of Class 8 comprise of Accounting, Additional/Pure Mathematics, Art, Bangla or French, Bangladesh Studies, Biology, Business Studies, Chemistry, Commerce, Computer Science, Economics, English, Environmental Management, Mathematics and Physics. O’ Level syllabus starts from Class 8 and students sit for the CIE check point exams in this class.

The faculty consists of new and veteran teachers. New teachers come into a school fired up to teach and innovate. By contrast, veteran teachers provide years of experience and understanding about how to manage their classrooms and get things done in the school. The administrative staff is friendly, efficient and ready to help. The counselors provide guidance and support, especially when it comes to dealing with academic, personal, parental and social pressures. Helping students reach their potential is their number one goal.

Our students are motivated throughout the year with different monthly, term wise and yearly awards. CGS also celebrates and observes important national and international days. It is compulsory for students to participate in extracurricular activities. It is the intentional, proactive effort by CGS to instill in their students important core, ethical values such as caring, honesty, fairness, responsibility, and respect for self and others. Our students regularly participate in different Olympiads. They also take part in several competitions and conferences.

Here at Middle School not only do we aim to educate our students academically but we also encourage them to explore their creative, innovative and other aspirations. We enhance the self-esteem of students and their ability to value each person’s own worth through a happy, caring, enriching and secure environment.
